It’s important to get your boiler serviced every year, to check that it is operating safely and also to avoid breakdown and damage to the boiler.
Unfortunately, most of the boilers we attend to have either not been serviced at all, or even worse, the householder has paid for their boiler to be serviced every year using Gas Safe registered engineers, but they were in and out in 15 minutes and the job wasn’t done properly.
Most engineers will do the minimum safety checks required under the Gas Safety Regulations, but these alone do not suffice to properly maintain the boiler.

ESSENTIAL MAINTENANCE CHECKS
Expansion Vessel
This is frequently omitted from servicing which causes leaks, premature failure of components, frequent re-filling of system pressure, corrosion and blockages when it fails completely (note: not all boilers have an expansion vessel).
Condense Trap
Also frequently omitted from servicing which causes the boiler to stop working and can result in damage. (older boilers may not have a Condense Trap).
Other maintenance requirements
Different boilers have different maintenance requirements, for example on an older boiler, the burner may need to be taken out and cleaned, however on a newer boiler this may not be necessary if certain other tests (eg fan pressure) are satisfactory. We will complete all necessary tasks and checks to service your boiler properly.
Finally, you will be given a copy of the service record, showing what has been done, our findings and any recommendations.
Repairs
We are properly trained and very experienced at diagnosing and repairing faults in boilers and central heating systems. Most issues can be fixed during our first visit (and we rectify the cause of the problem, not just the symptoms). In the event parts are required, we will give you a quotation before proceeding further and our charges are very reasonable.
POWER FLUSHING
Many heating systems have circulation problems due to sludge in the system. This is caused by the system not being flushed properly after installation and/or by the lack of corrosion inhibitor being added to the system. Over the years, fluxes used during installation attack the pipework, radiators start to rust, the system water gets dirtier and dirtier, becoming like gravy and progressing to sludge which causes premature failure of components, leaks and eventually failure of the system. We provide a power flushing service to clean your central heating system.

We need our central heating systems to give us heat and hot water when we need it, and to do so safely and efficiently, without breaking down. A professional and thorough installation is key to avoiding future problems.
Aquaflux has been assessed by British Gas and selected as an Approved Contractor to install boilers and central heating systems to their high standards and on their behalf. Our own customers get the same service but better prices!

We offer free quotations by an experienced professional heating engineer (not a salesman), who will assess your heating needs and recommend an appropriate system with appropriate controls.
We only recommend reputable boiler brands all of which are ‘A-rated’ for energy efficiency. We are not under pressure or incentivised to sell any particular boiler brand and will always give impartial advice based on our experience and your requirements.
You will receive a fixed-price written quotation and if you are happy to go ahead, we will book a time which is convenient for you.
DURING INSTALLATION
- We will use dust-sheets to protect your home, keeping the job tidy and leaving everything clean when we leave (no dirty hand-prints over the walls)!
- Complete your installation professionally, with neat pipe-work
- Properly flush your complete heating system and protect it with corrosion inhibitor.
- Properly commission the system, filling out the log-book and registering the boiler with Gas Safe Register and Building Control.
- Show you how to use your new system.
All our work is insured and guaranteed and we provide 12 months Aftercare as standard.
SAFETY
Gas Safety Checks and Gas Work
Gas Work must only be undertaken by operatives who are Gas Safe Registered. (Prior to 1st April 2009, it was a requirement to be CORGI registered).
All gas work must be recorded and you should be given a copy of the paperwork (no matter how small the job).
It is a legal requirement for Rental properties to have a Gas Safety Inspection every 12 months and it is the Landlord’s responsibility to ensure this is completed (unless their agent has taken contractual responsibility).
A copy of the Safety certificate (CP12) should also be given to the tenant within 28 days of the inspection, or for new tenants, should be provided before they move in to the property. An inspection is also recommended for home-owners although this is not mandatory under the Gas regulations.
DURING INSTALLATION
During an inspection, the gas installation is tested to detect any leaks, the gas meter is checked and all gas appliances in the property (including boilers, fires and cookers) will be checked for safety, for compliance with the Gas Safety regulations and to ensure there is no danger from Carbon Monoxide Poisoning.
If there are any issues, the responsible person will be given a Warning notice or an Advisory notice, depending on the issue and any dangerous equipment will be isolated.

We are an independent and local family-run business, established in 2007, providing Heating, Plumbing and Gas services in and around Cheshire. Marc started his career in London as a plumber in 2003, then worked as an apprentice gas engineer for Thames Gas. It was high-volume work and he rapidly progressed to become an experienced heating engineer, setting-up AquaFlux Ltd in 2007.
“I have had a lot of help along the way from my late father-in-law and friend Bob White, a Chester Heating engineer, with over 30 years of experience.
